In the radio-frequency and microwave domains, waves carrying an orbital angular momentum (OAM, vortex waves) are used to improve the performance of wireless communications systems, where OAM can be exploited to enhance the channel capacity and reduce the crosstalk. Here we present a single-feed point elliptic ring antenna designed to generate OAM waves. Through numerical simulations, we demonstrate that the proposed antenna provides a vortex wave generation with a high mode purity. Its simple structure facilitates easy manufacturing, making it a promising candidate for applications in communication.
