Genius Lev Landau Everybody knows: P.L. Kapitsa discovered superfluidity - a flow without friction in liquid helium near absolute zero, LD Landau found the theory of superfluidity and the general theory of quantum liquids, for which he received the Nobel Prize. But that's not all. Modern physics is literally permeated by the discoveries of Landau, captured in widely used terms: Landau levels. Landau attenuation. Landau and Lifshits equation. Landau collision integral. Landau-Chandrasekhar mass limit. ... And finally, the Course of Theoretical Physics in 10 volumes is the main Book of modern physical science. How could one person do all this? The answer is in the title: it was a genius, a great teacher who created a wonderful scientific school, a great wagon in modern physics, akin to the geniuses of the Renaissance. A colossal part of this work was conceived and partly done by Lev Davidovich Landau in Kharkov. What was this man, how could he achieve the implementation of his plan? And how did he become a happy man? This is our short story.
